2019 Farm Camp, for ages 4 - 10

Farm Camp at Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm is an opportunity for children to connect with the natural world while living into the rhythms and experience of a working farm. The day is designed to inspire a connection with and love of nature and the outdoors. Activities include gathering eggs, planting in the garden, picking berries and vegetables, cooking delicious organic snacks, crafts, games, songs and stories. Our 4-5 year old program will take place in a new location - our First Grade Playgarden which will be transformed into a nature habitat with crafts and garden work. This location makes daily trips to the Farm and Permaculture Garden more accessible. Our 6 - 10 year old program will take place on our Farm.

We offer six, one-week sessions of Farm Camp starting June 17 and running through July 26. We meet Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 1pm (including July 4th!). You may enroll your child in one session or up to all six sessions! Please pack a lunch - an organic morning snack is provided.

We also offer a fun and nurturing After Care Program from 1 to 3:30pm for children ages 6 - 10 at an additional cost of $20 per day. Our staff is well trained in environmental education, bringing a "sustainable model" to the young child.

*Cost is $310 per week. Receive 10% Early Bird Discount when you register by March 29, 2019

Registration opens on February 15, 2019. We are using an online registration process this year.

2019 Earth Ecology Camp, for ages 10 - 14

Fiber Arts in the Garden: Taking wool from our sheep and plants from our garden, learn to wash, card, spin, dye and weave it into something beautiful. Pick berries for snack and build community while exploring color and craft. Using the Permaculture Garden and Handwork Room, this special session will meet Monday - Friday, June 17 - 21, 2019 from 8:30am - 2pm and will be taught by Summerfield's Handwork teacher, Lisa Wilde.

Earth Ecology Camp: Earth Ecology Camp is specifically designed for youth ages 10–14. Students will learn ecological skills and practices in our Permaculture garden. Daily activities include growing and harvesting food, gathering herbs for teas, cooking in our solar oven, picking berries, use of natural plant dyes, natural crafts including wood carving, and wetland studies. We will explore the wild areas of the land, the farm and become an "earth-wise" community. Earth Ecology Camp will be taught by Anastasia Sinclair who graduated from Summerfield Waldorf School in 1995 and is a teacher at the Waldorf School of the Peninsula. Anastasia has a background in environmental education and sustainable agriculture. She has worked as a Naturalist and as an organic/biodynamic farmer in Hawaii.
